A Randomness Test for Stable Data
In this paper, we propose a new method for checking randomness of non-Gaussian stable data based on a characterization result. This method is more sensitive with respect to non-random data compared to the well-known non-parametric randomness tests.
متن کاملRandomness
Here we present in a single essay a combination and completion of the several aspects of the problem of randomness of individual objects which of necessity occur scattered in our text [10]. The reader can consult different arrangements of parts of the material in [7, 20].
متن کاملWhat Does Genetic Randomness Look Like?
What are the observable consequences of randomness? This question has been asked in all disciplines where random processes affect significantly, or even entirely, those phenomena being studied. It arose in evolutionary genetics in the late 19605 when it was claimed that most of the genetic variation in natural populations, which was then being observed for the first time in detail, does not hav...
متن کاملOn Why and What of Randomness
Extended Abstract: This paper has several objectives. First, it separates randomness from lawlessness and shows why even genuine randomness does not imply lawlessness. Second, it separates the question “why should I call a phenomenon random?” (and answers it in part one ) from the patent question “What is a random sequence?” for which the answer lies in Kolmogorov complexity ( which is explaine...
متن کاملCharacterizing strong randomness via Martin-Löf randomness
We introduce two methods to characterize strong randomness notions via Martin-Löf randomness. By applying these methods, we investigate ∅′-Schnorr randomness.
